The LIEBSTER Award

I’m absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for the LIEBSTER award!

Why??? You ask

Because I get to share some of my ever growing lists of blogs that inspire, educate and entertain me. I was thrilled to be nominated by Becca at From My Lofty Hill. She has a fascinating blog about homesteading in Belize. You’ll be hooked, pop over for a visit!

The premise is simple.

You link back to the lovely blogger who nominated you. Even if, as with Becca, she’s younger, prettier and smarter then you! (Don’t worry, none of you have that problem!)

You answer the questions you were set.

You nominate eleven other blogs and set eleven questions for them. I don’t know why it’s eleven. I didn’t make the rules. I’m nosey, I’d have asked waaaay more!!

Questions set for me to answer

What is one thing you would like to change in your country? After this winter I would seriously like to ban snow!

First thing you check in the morning? The time. Whether I can go back to sleep or not!!

Which song do you like to hum? It depends what comes into my mind, it could be a lot of things from Rugby songs to Christmas Carols in July!

What was an embarrassing experience you had? Walking down Oxford Street in London with my skirt tucked into my knickers.

Tell me a guilty secret. I really don’t like pizza. Or chocolate. Or Cottage Cheese.

List your three, all-time favorite songs. Three?! That’s not possible. Music is always around me but the next three songs in my playlist are

Sound of Silence – Disturbed

Drinkin Problem – Midland

Good Tradition Tanika Tikarem and Bang on the drum all day – Todd Rundren is currently playing. The last song was O Fortuna – Carmina Burana so it varies!!

What do you value most in another person? Integrity

What motivated you to start blogging? Being half nagged to death by friends who wanted me to write my crap down.

What gets you through a bad day? Humour. Without fail. And plotting revenge!

If you could describe yourself in 3 words- what would they be? Bookworm, Friend, Mum

What made you smile today? My little dog/chupacapra Daisy

My Blog Nominations for the Liebster Award are as follows:

GTFO Now Domestic Abuse of men isn’t as commonly supported as for women. Neither should happen, EVER. This is an invaluable resource for anyone suffering or as a resource to help.

Becoming The Muse – this is a beautiful blog in its own right, Beaton has an easy writing style that’s very enjoyable but even more so when you see the ballet of posts between him and Mabel at Mabel Rants. He writes – and she rights. I love that description of their dance.

Books and Stuff Oh this lady and I – we’ve got a thing going on! I think she’s in cahoots with Amazon because I cannot resist her book reviews!

Brixton Jaxx This person has a great writing style and a really great blog about transitioning.

Katzenworld Because CATS!!! Duh!

Ten Thousand Days Almost ten thousand days ago, his fiancée died tragically. The story of his life and relationships since. I love it.

Swerve Strikes Back A great blog about life and opinions and a little bit of everything!

Brit Wit A blog by an American trying to understand and explain British colloquialisms. Compelling.

The Go To Girls Blog A little bit of travel, a little bit of local England, a little bit of baby love – a LOT of fun!

Historian Ruby – This is a fabulous blog with detailed, fascinating posts. Witchcraft, Suffragettes, Royalty – there’s something for everyone.

  3. Your answers were delightful to read! Blimey. (Can I do that? I’m gonna do it anyways…!) Also, I’m insanely honored you wished to nominate me! It’s always a bit of a shocker when it happens, buuuut I would like to reply to your comments here if I may? 🙂

    1. My favorite meal is anything pasta–but mostly lasagna and spaghetti. So salad (preferably Cesar, but I won’t be too picky) and bread is a must! But does ice cream count? because if it did, that’s up there too.

    2. Hmm.. lake or ocean? seeing as how I’m not really close to either and had visited both only a handful of times, I have to say the ocean wins out.

    3. You know I used to always want to see NYC…I still think it’d be nice, though I’m not crazy about it. I think I’d want to see Times Square or Central Park first. Nope, definitely the park first and in full bloom.

    4. Anyone in history? I think this answer my change. But right now, I think I would like to meet William Shakespeare. Just to confirm his identity and tell everyone else he was real. Ask me again tomorrow and let’s see how much that’ll change!

    5. My favorite place to be is anywhere I can read.

    6. I’ll cheat and probably make pasta of some sort. Or I’d be rational and ask you what you’d like.

    7. My absolute favorite subject in school was English. After that it was History. Everything else was various levels of torture.

    8. Gah! I have so many… “Be curious, not judgmental.” -Walt Whitman or “One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.” -Jack Kerouac

    9. My family has a fifteen year old mutt. But I want to get a puppy sometime soon(ish). Very stupid of me, but oh how I want a puppy.

    10. I’ll sprout off several!! If you’ve never read Jane Austen, that’s one of my first MUSTS. hehe. Personally I like Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Persuasion. I need to get back into reading Agatha Christe. I’ve read some James Patterson but his stuff can be a bit predictable for me, sadly. I’m not long off from reading YA all the time soooo if you feel like hitting up that avenue, I’ll recommend some oldies but goodies. I’ve been in a bit of a reading rut recently; so some books I’ve been meaning to read are: The Girl on the Train; Sherlock Holmes (I’ve only three a couple short stories, need to read them all in order!); A Song of Fire and Ice (the George R.R. Martin series). I should probably stop now!

    11. Maybe not forever…but definitely probably older than our average life expectancy now.

    Thanks again!!! and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
