A Thought for Mothers Day

For many this is one of the most bittersweet holidays in the year.

We’ve either lost a mother, we have kids in situations neither they or we wanted to be in or our kids are too far away or too busy to find time for us.

Some of us have never been mothers, some of us have never known a mother at all.

For those of us in loving family situations I wish you a day of love, laughter and much deserved appreciation.

For those of us with mothers who are still here – even if it’s just a five minute call, reach out. Tell her you love her. One of these days you’ll be looking at racks of cards wishing you could send one. Don’t wait. Call!! You can live a long time with regrets, it’s far better to live with peace and love.

Oh and don’t text, that’s no way to make someone feel valued and loved.

For those of with nothing to look forward to this weekend but Monday – I wish you love. I wish you strength, I wish you acceptance and happiness. Life doesn’t always turn out like a Hallmark card. That doesn’t mean it has to be grey though. I wish you the colors of the rainbow because they’re the reward for rainy days.

It WILL be alright in the end – and if it isn’t alright, it isn’t the end.

  1. Bittersweet describes it well – both the joy of spending time with my children but knowing I can’t make that phone call or visit to my Mom.
A Great message – Thank You for caring.

  2. It’s refreshing to see someone acknowledge that Mother’s Day isn’t all chocolates and flowers for everyone in such a touching and heartfelt way. Thank you 😊

  3. you know i love my mom and my heart is always full of gratitude for my mother each day… every day . Still I celebrate Mother’s day specially. Many people ask what’s the point of celebrating special day. This …. This is my answer to them. If you are so much occupied and struggling but got a little reminder to think of acknowledging your mother’s love and support do this today. The best part about your way of celebration was how it is much more than just gifts, chocolates and flowers.
