Three Days, Three Song Lyrics – Day Three

The fantabulous wordsmith, Kristian at Tales From The Mind of Kristian has nominated me for this intriguing tag. I’ve really enjoyed this and I’m sad to get to day three.

Do you follow Kristian? You absolutely should. He’s one of my absolute favourite bloggers , one of the very few I make sure to keep up with even on the busiest days when Im travelling and I can’t even blog myself. Our boy has been read everywhere from a gas station checkout queue to throughway bathrooms! I’ve even followed his blog whilst having blood drawn – if he can distract me from that he’s absolutely worth checking out!!

Pick three song lyrics that mean something to you and share them over three days.

I’m currently down in North Carolina again until Friday when I face another twelve hour drive up to Poughkeepsie NY before heading home to the Finger Lakes on Saturday. I’m sooo looking forward to being home!

I’ve wracked up a prestigious amount of miles this year, this trip will put me over 20K by Saturday and that’s not counting my usual daily driving. That’s just on my long trips. I’m probably nearer 30K total but it’s hard to track as I’ve been driving three different cars.

Surprisingly (or not!!) I don’t feel inclined to pick a song lyric about driving to quote! (Although I do love Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker!! )

‘im indoors is a bit of a worry wart. He persists in this belief I’m a helpless little female. I may be little but that’s all! I refuse to be limited or hampered by him or anyone else hence my final song choice – Enjoy!!

Now there was a time when they used to say

That behind every great man.

There had to be a great woman.

But in these times of change you know that it’s no longer true.

So we’re comin’ out of the kitchen ‘Cause there’s somethin’ we forgot to say to you

Sisters are doin’ it for themselves.

Standin’ on their own two feet.

And ringin’ on their own bells.

Sisters are doin’ it for themselves.

Now this is a song to celebrate

The conscious liberation of the female state!

Mothers, daughters and their daughters too.

Woman to woman, we’re singin’ with you.

The inferior sex got a new exterior, we got doctors, lawyers, politicians too.

Everybody, take a look around.

Can you see, can you see, can you see there’s a woman right next to you.

Sisters are doin’ it for themselves.

Standin’ on their own two feet.

And ringin’ on their own bells.

Sisters are doin’ it for themselves.

Now we ain’t makin’ stories and we ain’t layin’ plans ’cause a man still loves a woman and a woman still loves a man

  1. Oh That is wonderful. Every time I write something now I am going to be imagining you having blood taken while reading it! I am crying with laughter right now.

And I’ve now got ‘Sisters are doing it for themselves’ going through my head. Good job I love the song.

Thank you, brilliant, entertaining and funny post as usual. 🙂

  2. To be completely honest I wasn’t expecting Wagon Wheel either… though that is an awesome song!

I did however expect to see On The Road Again. Everytime we go on our 1500 mile trek from Nebraska to Arizona to snowbird, it has to get played at least once. If not it’s once daily until we get there lol.
