Geezerly McFuddy-Duddy And The Oldest Swinger In Town.

Aren’t men funny? In every sense of the word. Funny ha-ha, funny peculiar and funny-why-are-you-still-alive?

‘im indoors is a prime example. There’s the easy way, the hard way and his way. I have the patience of a saint I’m telling ya!

Cars. I want to buy a new/newer car when we move. I’ve kind of got my heart set on a GMC Acadia but I also kinda like the GMC Yukon and also a little partial to a Ford Explorer. I want something bigger than a Mini this time obviously! I don’t like the latest Acadia hence maybe getting the last model. Anyway those are what I like.

He-Who-Shall-Be-Ignored has been trying to tempt me into buying a van. A flippin’ Dodge Caravan. It’s like driving a sofa. It’s like trying to corner in a trifle.

It’s not happening.

He likes PT Cruisers and Dodge Caravans. We are totally in-car-patible! (I bet he’ll want to drive MINE when I buy it though!) He recently bought a new van as the last one we had bit the dust. It wasn’t the 200K it had on it that killed it, it was the rust. Dodges seem to rust in NY like no other car. He just had to buy another though!

Then we have his best friend. He and ‘im indoors have been friends since they were 3 years old. I’m surprised they can remember back that far.

They are complete opposites.

Disco Dino thinks he’s still 25. He likes to go to college bars and think he’s hip and cool. I want to stress he has no interest in dating college students, he just wants the fountain of youth. He likes to be up on the latest bands, the avocado toast, the see through pc for gaming and so on.

He has also recently bought a new car. A Mazda Miata. Red. Convertible. He looks like Noddy driving around in it!

‘im indoors and Disco Dino were charting on the phone earlier.

‘im indoors was talking about how he has increased his gas mileage in the van, winter versus summer washer fluid and his 401k.

Disco Dino was talking about a track day in his Miata, wanting to see Ed Sheehan live and a new college radio station.

I started laughing and told them I was going to rename them Geezerly McFuddyDuddy and The Oldest Swinger In Town.

It’s lovely in the dog house. I have a lovely time reading without interruption when I’m Being Ignored!

  1. Insults dont work on my crew…I guess I used them too often and now they’re immune. I just get a brief “okay crazy lady” look and they continue making demands. I’d love to get the silent treatment. I must try harder👍😀

      1. I bought my mini partly because I loved it – and largely because ol ‘Jesus H Christ! WTF! I can’t even get in this damn thing’ wouldn’t be borrowing it. I’d looked at another car he loved that I knew he’d always ‘need to borrow’ – and that clinched my decision!

  2. I agree with you about those mini-vans! I am so glad I don’t have to drive them anymore! If I ever have kids I won’t even be getting one. I’m an SUV girl myself.

    1. I like the space but if you like to drive – they’re soul destroying. They’re no fun to drive at all. I’m definitely planning on an SUV. I really want a truck because I love them but he’d have a stroke if I came home with one!
      Hmmm…. 😉

      1. HAHA! I’m a fan of the Hyundai Sante Fe or Tuscon, or VW Tiguan. They are great vehicles and stylish too! A smaller SUV but that’s what I like.

  3. I’m so happy you are back! This post made me giggle like a little girl!! I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I absolutely love! I love sitting up higher than most of the other cars on the road and it gets me through everything!!😂☕💜

    1. Being up higher while driving is going to be fantastic! I’m not really ready yet, I’m thinking I’ll buy next year probably because nothing beats my mini in the snow and until we sell, I’m sticking with that. I’m not buying another car in NY.

      1. Yeah rust is bad up there!! Wait until you get down here and buy a rust free car!! It’s all the salt they put down on the roads in NY……you have plenty of time to figure out what YOU want!!😂💙

      2. I just can’t wait! There’s been so many delays but once repairs are complete and the house is properly on the market again I’ll be happy – well I’ll be happy when it SELLS!!

    1. I hate the PT. For one it looks like a cockroach and for two, it’s really uncomfortable! I’m banned from it after I brought a brown paper shopping bag with a face drawn on it and eyes cut out the last time he made me go with him in it.
I have a reputation to uphold!

  4. Avocado toast? Well I’ve proven I’m older than dirt, because I don’t have a clue what that even is. 😐 Now as to your ‘non-cars’, what’s wrong with the PT Cruiser? They don’t make ’em any longer you know, so in an odd way they’re classics. I’ve driven one since 2013 and I wanted one from the time they first appeared. Hubby didn’t like them and refused to go along with buying one. Instead we invested (hahaha) in a series of old beaters that he’d get cheap from one of his buddies OR in vehicles that wore out in seriously short order, even though they weren’t all that old. I love “Baby” – my 2005 PT Cruiser. Best vehicle I’ve EVER owned. I can get in and out without a hoist lift, she’s great on gas mileage and she’s good on wintry roads. What more could I ever ask?

  6. A mini-van… Yikes. Yeah…no. That is a millennium version of a station wagon. *sigh* (seeing visions of the Griswolds…which is especially aggravating as my mom’s maiden name is Griswold). I understand Minis are great to drive but, upkeep is a killer. Why so damn expensive? Because it is an import?

I’m hot and cold with vehicles. I either like sports cars or trucks/jeeps. Nothing in between.

BTW…what is “charting on the phone”? Is that a cross between chatting & farting (a-kin to what sharting means)?

    1. Damn typos – caused by phones! It was meant to be chatting! I’m never buying an import car again, short of a lottery win. It’s ridiculous how much more labor costs never mind the parts. It is seriously fun to drive though!

      1. Well, technically, it works. Guys do chat & fart, so…🤣

I have owned three American vehicles. The rest were imports. My 1984 Cutlass was a poor design, mechanically. My 2010 Cobalt…I will never know if it truly was a good car or not as, when it rolled out of the factory, someone painted a bullseye on it. One week after I took possession, a teenager in a 1998 Lumina rear ended me in traffic on a Monday morning as I was headed to work. I was living in Texas and it had just started to rain (Central Texans see so little rain that, when it shows up, they freak and lose all sense of proper driving techniques). I was pushed under a Mitsubishi Montero and rolled the hood. After that, Ken screwed up my driver’s side door on a concrete wall and, in January 2015, (on my way to work, again) I hit a patch of black ice and slid into a fire hydrant, breaking the passenger side front tie rod. At that point, I was beginning to fear for my life. After the first accident, it never acted right, anyway.

However, I wish I still had my 1999 Ford F250. That’s what I traded for the Cobalt…and I am physically incapable of kicking my own ass. 🙄😠😡🤬
