Did you miss me?!

Taughannock Falls, NY 2019

Gosh it’s been a crazy couple of months. I haven’t had time to read never mind think. Something had to give as I was extremely overloaded.

Princess PITA’s spinal surgery and her subsequent terrifying pulmonary embolism.

Trying to get a house ready to sell and finally getting it on the market only to have our time frame thwarted by vandalism.

My ocular adventures with sclera contacts. (Complete DISASTER)

The very trying process of FINALLY applying for a green card for my youngest.

Crappy family issues with Backstabatha* stirring the pot as per flippin’ usual

I’ve become a Notary Public for the State of New York – still kind of awed that I passed the exam!

Daisy having a spine injury and needing a lot of attention and care.

…. all while working full time!

Something had to give. I’ve been mentally and physically overdrawn and I didn’t have the energy for anything else, hence my absence. It’s hard to think of stuff to write about when you’re always so very tired.

I’ve made changes in the last two weeks. First and foremost, I’ve reduced the hours I’m working. I feel like I’ve come out from behind a cloud. I feel a lot lighter. I’ve even got up to skullduggery and mayhem again! That might not be considered good news by some but it’s not my fault they’re so jumpy – well maybe it is… but they should be used to be by now!

Lessons have been learned. No matter what I think, I’m not invincible. Learning that it’s okay to take a step back and even say no once in a while has been a steep learning curve. I really do struggle with not trying to do everything for everyone. The fact I’m still working part time is a case in point. I had given notice but on my last day got talked into staying on. I felt so guilty I couldn’t refuse. I compromised and didn’t cave completely but it just goes to show how easy it is to get swamped.

Just writing this little bit has been like breathing. Sometimes you just don’t know how much you miss something until you return!

  1. Welcome back! I’m not surprised you took some time away – man, you’ve had a lot going on. You know you’ve made the right decision to cut back on work when you get that sense of lightness and relief, I hope it continues and I hope all your family members are doing OK.

  2. I am so happy to see a post from my favorite Mistress Of Mayhem. I do like it better when you’re the one causing the mayhem rather than being on the receiving end.

Congrats on your new title, Madam Notary! I knew you’d pass! Now you can get your stamp. YAY!

I’ve been thinking about you a lot and I hope things slow down a bit for you. You need time to play too!

    Welcome Back!

  3. Welcome back!! You certainty have been missing and seeing you back made my day! 🙂 I hope that life continues to slow down a big and cuts you some slack. Good for you for recognizing that you needed to focus your energy on more urgent matters than crafting highly entertained, sometimes inappropriate humor for the people of the internet. 🙂

  4. So good to hear from you and yes, I have missed you.. WOW! you have certainly been through a lot. Good to hear that you have a least been able to take away some lessons from this. Even though we say we know we are not invincible, when someone tells us we can’t do it all we still tend to say “HA! Watch Me”. Learning to say “No” and when to say “No” is a toughie. Keep practicing.

  5. Yes, you’ve been missed! Perfectly understandable that you needed a break. The health issues alone would be overwhelming for anyone. I look forward to your unique brand of humor when you’re feeling up to it.

  6. How does your youngest one NOT have a green card yet? And why are you involved? Aren’t they an adult?

I’m not surprised that the contacts have been a disaster. Although, I hope it gets better with time.

    Welcome back!
