The Elixir of Life. Allegedly a potion that can grant immortality. Me, I don’t think so. Living forever and being immortal aren’t the same thing to me. I actually think living forever would be Hell. Can you imagine seeing everyone you’ve ever loved die? Being left on Earth alone with no one who remembers you as a child, a teenager, a mum or a grandma? If that isn’t Hell I don’t know what is.
I think the Elixir of Life is something different. It’s not about life on earth without end, it’s about life with all your loved ones forever.
One day I’ll die. I’ll leave behind people who love me and will remember me with smiles and laughter and joy. I’ll live on in their memories until they join me again so truly, we’ll never be apart. I’ll be in their hearts as much as those who have gone before me are in mine. That’s immortality. Living on in the hearts of others.
